Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

Are you a parent who needs help paying for your child’s college education? The federal government offers parents of dependent students a Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) to help pay education expenses for an undergraduate student enrolled at least half time in an eligible program at an eligible school.

Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan

• This loan is unsubsidized which means that you are responsible for paying the interest during the entire life of the loan. Interest is charged during all periods.
• PLUS loans help pay for education expenses up to the cost of attendance minus all other financial assistance.
